If 2024 was already very busy, 2025 will be even busier with a plethora of sequels and fairly enticing new programs. A non-exhaustive overview of the series which, on paper, are already making Philippe Congiusti, series and cinema specialist for RTS, salivate.
“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”
It’s impossible to anticipate the year without writing a line about one of the biggest upcoming productions, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”, a derivative of “Game of Thrones”. This prequel is set seventy years after “House of the Dragon”. The knight-errant Duncan the Great and his squire Egg form a strange duo roaming the lands of a kingdom ruled by the Targaryens who hold the Iron Throne.

Ridley Scott omnipresent
On Prime, “Blade Runner 2099” is intriguing. Developed by Ridley Scott and expected at the end of 2025, this series presents itself as the sequel to “2049” directed by Denis Villeneuve in the cinema. This adaptation of the novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” by Philipp K. Dick will feature Michelle Yeoh as a replicant at the end of her life.

On this same platform, Mélanie Laurent and Benoît Magimel will be immersed in a Savoyard paranoid thriller with “In the Shadow of the Forests” directed by Cédric Anger.
Also expected by June on Canal+ is the adaptation of “Sentinelles”, the comic book by Xavier Dorison by Guillaume Lemans. In this robocop of the trenches, the series will tell the fate of an engineer mutilated during the First World War who accepts the proposal of a scientist to be augmented and to join a unit of elite fighters of a new kind . “Sentinels” will mix war, espionage and fantasy to tell the story of a man deprived of his family, his freedom and transformed into a war machine.
