TVS Motor Company, India’s third largest motorcycle manufacturer by revenue, has announced its official entry into the Moroccan market. This strategic expansion is taking place in partnership with Hindi Motors, its distributor in the kingdom, which thus strengthens the company’s presence on the African continent.

In a press release consulted by Barlamane.com, TVS Motor specified that the Moroccan market will welcome four flagship models: the TVS Ntorq 125, the TVS Raider 125, the TVS Apache 160 and the TVS Apache 200. These machines will be supported by the vast network distribution and services company of Motorsports Morocco, which operates under the commercial banner of Hindi Motors.

Founded in Madurai in 1911 by Sundram Iyengar, parent company TVS Group began as a mass transport service, before laying the foundation of the road transport industry in the erstwhile Madras Presidency state. In 1962, a collaboration with the British company Clayton Dewandre Holdings marked the launch of Sundaram Clayton, dedicated to the manufacturing of automobile parts. Subsequently, the launch of the TVS 50 in the 1980s, produced at the Hosur factory, made history as the first two-seater moped made in India.

In the 1980s, TVS joined hands with Suzuki to form a joint venture (TVS-Suzuki), which gave birth to iconic models such as the Samurai and Shogun. After the dissolution of this partnership in 2001, TVS Motor Company emerged as an independent entity.

During the official announcement, Rahul Nayak, vice-president of the international division of TVS Motor, underlined the importance of this expansion for Morocco, recalling that “mobility constitutes an essential lever for economic and societal progress.” He also praised the expertise of Motorsports Maroc, saying that the distributor brought “decades of experience in sales, service and customer care.”
