Actor Jean-Michel Dupuis died on Saturday, September 14 at the age of 69. He was known for appearing in many films including The Boom with Sophie Marceau and in the play The First Name.

Actor Jean-Michel Dupuis died this Saturday, September 14 at the age of 69. It was his long-time partner who announced the sad news to AFP the day after his death. For several years, the actor had been fighting against the disease but it finally won the battle. Throughout his career, Jean-Michel Dupuis distinguished himself as a supporting role figure, whether on television, in cinema or in the theater. Indeed, on stage, the French actor notably played in The First Name in 2011 alongside Patrick Bruel, Valérie Benguigui and Guillaume de Tonquédec. Spectators were also able to see him play in Conversations after a funeral (1987), Waiting for Godot (1997), The Gates of Heaven (1999), The Albatross Dance (2007) and, more recently, The lie (2016). All these plays have earned him a Molière nomination for best supporting actor six times.

Theatre is far from being the only artistic field in which Jean-Michel Dupuis has flourished. Indeed, in 1975, he made his film debut in the film Little Marcel by Jacques Fansten. Five years later, he played opposite Sophie Marceau, Claude Brasseur and Brigitte Fossey in The Boom. He played Étienne, a friend of François, the father of Vic (Sophie Marceau). Until 1998, Jean-Michel Dupuis worked on a series of films: Attention bandits ! (1986) de Claude Lelouch, Proof of love (1988) by Miguel Courtois, The Beautiful Story (1992) by Claude Lelouch and Terminal (1998) by Francis Girod. His last appearance in the cinema dates back to 2006 in the film A spring in Paris avec Eddy Mitchell.

Jean-Michel Dupuis has had a series of supporting roles on television

As for television, here again, Jean-Michel Dupuis has made a series of appearances and supporting roles, which has allowed him to meet many personalities from the small screen. He thus appeared in an episode of Josephine, guardian angel with Mimie Mathy in 2000. The same year, he appeared in an episode of Judge is a woman. Six years later, he returned to the series which now featured Marine Delterme. In 2013, he made his last television appearance in the TV movie A Good Lesson by Bruno Garcia.
