The recommendations, released Sunday evening, come after local authorities arrested three Americans, two Spaniards and a Czech, following the disputed re-election of President Maduro.

France on Sunday recommended that its nationals postpone all travel to Venezuela. “except for compelling reasons” due to a «regain de tensions» following the presidential election. “For those already on site, it is strongly recommended to stay away from any demonstration or gathering of a political nature and to keep informed of the political and security situation.”added the Crisis and Support Center of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a travel advisory published Sunday. “It is also recommended to refrain from any expression on the Venezuelan political situation in the public space.”adds the text.

After the announcement of the re-election of President Nicolas Maduro, spontaneous demonstrations left 27 dead and 192 injured, and some 2,400 people were arrested, according to official sources.

The European Union countries have so far refused to recognize a winner, while Washington has recognized Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia. Threatened with prison in his country, the latter has been exiled for a week in Spain, which has granted him asylum.
