Queen Rania meets young entrepreneurs from Jerash governorate

Queen Rania of Jordan made her first official visit of the year on January 5. Queen Rania visited the governorate of Jerash, visiting entrepreneurs who have set up their small businesses thanks to the financial support of the Queen’s foundation.

Queen Rania visits young people in Jerash governorate

After the end-of-year holidays, Queen Rania of Jordan, 54, was quick to get back to work. This Sunday, January 5, Queen Rania made her first visit of the year 2025, traveling outside the capital. The wife of King Abdullah II frequently visits local communities, and in particular women seeking financial empowerment. For this first visit of the year, Queen Rania met with men and women who started their businesses in the governorate of Jerash.

The governorate of Jerash and one of the twelve governorates of the country. In terms of area, this governorate is one of the smallest and has around 240,000 inhabitants, in a country of 11.5 million inhabitants. The visit took place with the Darb Al Noor association which works for community development, a mission also carried out by Queen Rania’s Jordan River Foundation. The Queen’s Foundation also finances a program from which the members of this association benefit.

Queen Rania met a group of young project leaders who were supported by the sponsorship program. Queen Rania was able to discuss her aid programs which work in partnership with local institutions. The association explained its mission to help empower youth and women with educational programs. Among these projects supported by the association, there is notably a tourist service which offers a local culinary experience to tourists.

As a second step, Queen Ranie met with a group of men and women from Jerash who run their own income-generating projects, which the Queen supported in 2024 as part of a sponsorship program from the Jordan River Foundation . During the meeting, the wife of the Head of State heard these young people who told her about the job opportunities they managed to create. Thanks to their projects, they have responded to the needs of their local community.
