The second season of the HBO series, adapted from the famous video game, with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, will be broadcast in April 2025.
The Last of Us will be back in the spring. During CES, the world’s largest technology show which began this Tuesday, January 7 in Las Vegas, Neil Druckmann, co-creator, screenwriter and executive producer of the series, revealed that season 2 of the program with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey would be released in April 2025.
A 30-second teaser was also revealed during this announcement. According to this preview, the seven new episodes of the series will be very faithful to the atmosphere of the original video game, which follows Joel, a trafficker broken by the death of his daughter, and Ellie, a teenager he must protect, in a world destroyed by a pandemic.
This trailer also introduces new characters played by Catherine O’Hara (Mom I missed the plane, Beetlejuice), Jeffrey Wright (Casino Royale), Isabela Merced (Alien: Romulus). Actress Kaitlyn Dever will play Abby, one of the central characters of this second season.
A season 3 already in preparation
Season 2 takes place five years after the action told in the first season. It will only have seven episodes – compared to nine for season 1 – and will not cover the entire plot of the video game The Last of Us Part 2. A season 3 is already in preparation.
The first season of The Last of Usin 2023, had broken audience records on HBO. With 4.7 million viewers, episode 1 was the most watched pilot on the channel in 10 years, behind that of House of the Dragon.
