They are design or cognitive science students, nurses, models or soldiers, aged 17 to 28. Whether they measure 1.65 m or 1.84 m, these young men – originating from or living in New Aquitaine – all display a sculpted body, behind which they reveal diverse personalities and varied centers of interest. So many singularities, beyond their impeccable plastic, which they hope to make an asset during the election of Mister Aquitaine, which will take place on Saturday January 11 in Bordeaux, at the Hôtel Burdigala.
Bilal, Faustin, Jamy, Mathis, Matthias, Olivier, Sydiane and Théau were selected by Geoffrey Vautrot. The Girondin, elected Mister Aquitaine 2024, has in fact been the new regional delegate Mister National since last April, “the oldest competition of elegance”, he likes to recall. If it does not benefit from the same aura as its female counterpart, Miss France, with its 7.4 million viewers, the fact remains that it was the first to free itself from many restrictive physical criteria.
Enough to arouse many ambitions in these gentlemen. But Geoffrey Vautrot warns: “It’s not just a beauty contest! » If everyone will take part in different parades, in street clothes specific to their style, suit, dressed all in black, and boxers, the regional delegate reminds that they will “also be judged on their oral expression, during their presentation speech », when the five finalists will be subjected to “a surprise question from the jury” which, this year, will be chaired by Sonia Mansour, Miss World Morocco. To these scoring criteria will be added the result of the general knowledge test to which they will be subjected at the start of the competition.
Beyond appearances
The regional delegate will also monitor the state of mind of everyone within the group. Just as much as the determination of the candidates to represent their region during the national final which will take place at the Magic Workshops of illusionist Dani Lary in Barbières, in Drôme, on April 19. Because donning the scarf of Mister Aquitaine involves a certain personal investment, as demonstrated by Geoffrey Vautrot, committed to the fight against school bullying.
Passionate about fashion, the child of the Basque Country, a wine export salesman, now also devotes a large part of his free time to his new, voluntary mission as regional delegate. From candidate to competition manager, “it happened naturally,” he assures. Even if, in hindsight, “it’s a job to organize an event”, between logistics, partnerships and the preparation of candidates. What’s more, in the age of social networks which now offer the possibility of voting for the candidate of your choice.
Mister Aquitaine 2024, failing to be able to take part in the vote, retains from his function the possibility of “continuing to promote fashion and male modeling”. And, on occasion, also, to debunk some prejudices.
The election is open to the public from 5 p.m.; Entrance 8 to 10 euros by reservation.
