According to their information, the 56-year-old comedian has received, since his arrival in the establishment, several letters (of insults and support) and gifts from various people. This would add additional work to the prison guards, whose daily lives would then be much more difficult to manage. Because faced with the large number of gifts sent to the fifty-year-old, they would spend more time examining each letter and package received by the condemned man. An unprecedented situation which then encouraged the prison union denounced a context which had become both “unbearable and unmanageable“.

Still according to information from France Sundayprison staff at Bordeaux-Gradignan prison have also spent more time monitoring Pierre Palmade since his arrival in the establishment. Thus, unlike the other prisoners, the comedian would be monitored very closely by the guards during each trip. Whether he goes to the shower or to the visiting room, he would be systematically monitored or accompanied by one of the guards. A treatment which would be very different from that granted to other convicts.
