The 4th day of the group stage of the African Champions League and the Confederation Cup ended this Sunday evening, with mixed results for the Algerian and Moroccan clubs concerned.
In the LdC, MC Alger was disillusioned in Nouakchott, in Mauritania, where he was received by the Sudanese of Al-Hilal. Indeed, Bayazid opened the scoring after just 5 minutes for the Doyen on a caviar from former Lille player Messoussa. In the lead for almost 75 minutes, the Algerians then thought they had achieved the perfect shot, except that Girumugisha equalized in the 78th minute for the team coached by Florent Ibenge, winner 1-0 in the first leg and thus ensuring their qualification. For its part, the MCA remains 2nd but with only a small point ahead of Young Africans, who broke through TP Mazembe the day before (3-1).
Constantine’s cardboard box
In CdC, Renaissance Berkane, competition specialist, continued its impressive harvest by scoring a 4th consecutive success in Bamako against Stade Malien (1-0). Imad Riahi scored the goal of the qualification of Moroccans for the quarter-finals in the 64th minute.
At the same time, in group A, CS Constantine took a very serious option on qualification by slapping the Angolan of Bravos do Maquis with a score of 4-0. Rebiai (41st), Omoyele (45th+1), Belhocini (86th) and Mouaki (89th) scored for the Algerians who thus steal 2nd place in the group from their opponent, relegated 3 points behind and with a record of direct confrontations unfavorable. A home victory against CS Sfaxien, already eliminated, will be enough for CSC to validate its qualification from next weekend in this group dominated by the Tanzanians of Simba.
