Attendance at cinemas is good on the island. Animated films attract many moviegoers. The Cambaie and Saint-Pierre multiplexes had more than a million admissions in 2024. A trend that follows the national trend… French cinemas are a global exception!
“A little extra thing”, “L’amour ouf” or “Vaiana 2”, films which attracted you more in 2024 in cinemas and it is especially the animated films which appeal.
Attendance in Reunion Island has seen a clear rebound compared to previous years, but it remains 12.8% below the pre-covid average. “In 2024 there were a lot of releases so I came more than usual” “I try to book once every 2 months to go to the cinema”.
This year, several city center cinemas showed their latest film, facing competition from multiplexes, while the latter prosper “We, our group exceeds a million spectators, in the Antilles, in Reunion, plus Mayotte a little, we still bring some 3 million 5 spectators to the French Cinema Federation. With the arrival of the American blockbusters which are scheduled from the month of March, undoubtedly with perhaps Captain America which will begin before we should find a mixture of films, a more interesting choice of film” explains Yves Ethève, manager of the Mauréfilms channel.
2025 promises great surprises for the big screen, with action films like “Mission Impossible”, or even the third part of “Avatar” which will be released on December 17.
