Anne Reby will give her first conference of the year with the Les Peintres Revélois association this Tuesday, January 7 from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Get cultural center.

It will explore the life of the artist Gustave Caillebotte, a 19th century artist currently on display at the Musée d’Orsay on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of his death. The artist’s favorite subject was figures and portraits of men. These works aimed to produce new art, with inspiration from its immediate environment (Haussmann’s and the surrounding areas of the capital). His works often represent people close to him (his brothers, workers working for his family, his friends, etc.). At a time when virility reigns supreme, as the first crisis of traditional masculinity hits, the novelty and power of these images question both the social and sexual order. Gustave Caillebotte brings new figures into realistic painting: the urban worker, the man on the balcony, the sportsman, the naked man in the privacy of his toilet…

For art lovers, history lovers, or simply the most curious, Anne Reby will retrace the journey of this artist, 130 years after his death.
