Strongly criticized by a number of professionals at the start of the meeting, this Sunday January 5, 2025, the Vincennes track was still at the center of discussions in the second part of the afternoon. At around 5:15 p.m., shortly after the finish of the Prix du Calvados-Cornulier Races Q3, the technical director of the SETF, Guillaume Maupas, spoke live on Equidia Racing (interview rebroadcast later on live of Equidia): “We are finishing a three-day cycle which is extremely complicated for the track. With an obligation which was to run; Friday, Saturday, today (read Sunday). The weather forecasts, of course, we work with. We work with the temperatures. We had frost overnight from Thursday to Friday, Friday to Saturday, and last night something happened that we anticipated but was greater in terms of impact than imagined , we took 20 mm of water, as well as a thermal shock of 15 degrees. The track did not react well, especially in the straight. The entire slopes team was on site very early last night. This is a track that has not been salted, I would like to make that clear. So indeed, the conditions were not optimal but we are in a winter meeting and it is complicated to manage; we run every day. We have 90 meetings to organize during the winter meeting… […] There is another solution in this case when you see the track at 6 a.m., which is to say “we cancel”. But that’s not the choice we make. The choice we make is to work on it and do everything possible to have the track in the best possible condition. I even suggested they postpone the races today […] but the track guys, as well as the track manager told me “no, at 1:30 p.m., it will be runnable”. It was runnable, not ideal. I would like to salute all the commitment of the Vincennes staff”.
