Valence-d’Agen. A New Year’s concert between tradition and innovation

the essential
La Lyre Valencienne celebrates the New Year with a unique concert on Sunday January 26 at the Jean Baylet hall. Musicians, singers and dancers will combine their talents for an evening rich in emotions, marked by a unique premiere: singing and dancing together on stage.

Our Valencian city was the scene of many quality events to celebrate the transition from 2024 to 2025, with joy and a friendly atmosphere. Like every year, the Lyre Valencienne is preparing to light up the start of the year with its traditional New Year’s concert, scheduled for Sunday January 26 at 4:00 p.m. at the Jean Baylet hall. This flagship event, eagerly awaited, will bring together musicians, singers and dancers in an exceptional show, designed to wish a great new year in their own way.

This 2025 edition takes on a special dimension since it will be an opportunity to celebrate the bicentenary of the birth of the legendary Viennese composer Johann Strauss II. Conductors Pierre Baldassaré and Fabien Carrouché have carefully selected magnificent works by Strauss to compose part of the program, combining grace and virtuosity. (We will come back to the details in a future article).

To complete this celebration, other famous composers will enrich the repertoire of this concert. The public will be able to enjoy works by Jacques Offenbach, Georges Bizet, Aram Khachaturian, Sergei Prokofiev, Leonard Bernstein, and many others. In total, the Valencian harmony will perform no less than sixteen pieces, promising musical diversity that will delight all ears.

Singing and dancing on stage

The artists invited this year demonstrate the richness and eclecticism of this unmissable event. Faithful to the concert, we will find the “Ten’danse” dance school of the Communauté de Communes des Deux Rives, directed by Nicolas and Sandy Massip, as well as the lyrical singing class, the vocal workshop, and the choir of the The Deux Rives music school, under the direction of Véronique Guin. Added to this is the prestigious presence of the professional ballet “Marfil Ballet”, directed by Silvia Rico-Soriano.

All these artists will perform on stage alongside amateur musicians and volunteers from the Lyre Valencienne, under the expert batons of Pierre Baldassaré and Fabien Carrouché. And this year, something new promises to delight the public: for the first time, singing and dancing will be brought together on stage simultaneously. This innovation, the result of intense work and perfect coordination, will add a new and spectacular touch to this New Year’s concert.
