Thursday January 11, 2025, at 8:30 p.m. at the Théâtre de la Maison du Peuple, Salle Senghor “La Puce à l’Oreille” in Feydeau.
The story is known: Raymonde Chandebise suspects her husband of adultery. She sets a trap for him by meeting him anonymously at the Hôtel du Minet-Galant. The hotel then becomes the scene of a gigantic farce where the mechanics of misunderstandings, lies and deception spiral out of control without anyone being able to stop it.
Does this comedy which paints the picture of a bourgeoisie ridiculed by its impulses and its false certainties still make sense today? Mélanie Vayssettes and her young Company are convinced: the madness and genius of Feydeau which dynamite the relationships of power and domination are still relevant today.
On the set, a refined and empty space intensifies the presence of the bodies of the actors and actresses. There is no desire here to renew or invent a space that would not go with the meaning of the text. “We are at the service of situations, the doors must slam and the laughter ruthlessly crescendo.”
