Faced with the non-payment of operating budgets for elementary schools, the Collective of School Directors of Senegal (CDES) is calling on the authorities. This is through a press release made public.
“The Collective of School Directors of Senegal (CDES) being a structure of proposal, consultation and contribution, committed without reservation to the systemic transformation of education, launches an urgent appeal to the competent authorities for the return of financial resources allocated to elementary schools and intended to improve the working conditions of school principals, teachers, learners and the school environment,” reports the note from the CDES Executive Office.
Indeed, he informs that “since 2018, the operating budgets of elementary schools have no longer been paid, causing serious shortcomings in the regular operation of establishments”. Which, according to school directors, seriously affects their management. “The school director, being an essential link in the system, suffers in the administrative and financial management of his establishment,” we read in the press release.
The same source added: “Yet in August 2024, at the end of the meeting bringing together the managers of the 59 IEFs and the central level in Thiès, a strong announcement on the imminent repayment of operating budgets was made” .
