“The Way of the Centaurs”: an exceptional documentary

Much more than a simple horseback ride, the documentary scheduled for January 10 on the screens of the Grand Rio, offers you total immersion in a hike through the Pyrenees.

“They say that there are horsemen, horsewomen. This is incorrect. There are also horsemen, horsewomen, those who, investing in equines, have blurred the boundaries of their identity have struggled to see a horse, to feel a horse, to move a horse, so much so that their gestures, their sensations, their view of the world are turned upside down, becoming a horse, agreeing to forget a little the human in themselves. These words are signed by Clara Arnaud, travel writer and novelist and perfectly sum up Marine Luca’s documentary. This journalist specializing in the environment for the documentary series “Bad weather for the planet” on 5 is the author of the film which will be broadcast at the Grand Rio on January 10: “This adventure allowed me to think outside the box standards to find a narration, a tone as well as themes that are specific to me, always integrating this sensitivity to climate change and the environment. A documentary that she has been sculpting since her return from crossing the Pyrenees on horseback, in June 2023: “I then continued to work on this production and the time has now come for the documentary to be broadcast and meet its audience”.

“Create interaction”

Because Marine’s desire is there, to bring her creation as close as possible, to share her experience with the public who should be numerous to come and discover this film: “The cinema will be the ideal place to generate interaction around this expedition in which it is not just about the journey.

The documentary is crossed by other subjects such as time, space, landscape. This is the very essence of the documentary, born from this experience lived in spring 2023 as a journalist reporter, which resonated with my story and my relationship with horses. Its common thread was woven throughout our crossing and the sensations that matured in me over the following months.

A journey told day by day, from the inside, with passion and sincerity: “This documentary is developed first of all as a report, the images finally found their resonance through the expression of a logbook. The film proposes to follow the chronology of the journey As the days go by, it delivers concrete explanations of the progress of the expedition as well as sensory observations.

In “The Way of the Centaurs”, Marine Lucas wanted to take the image of the horse out of its usual supporting role in most films and make it a leading character in its own right: “Tell how they influence our inner world Beyond showing what man and horse accomplish together, highlighting how the bond is formed, what upheavals this bond generates. The horse invites us to change our perspective. It is a leading animal for us. bring us closer to our essence: the living One. crucial issue these days.
