Being the daughter of a fantasy hero isn’t always easy. In a new interview, Lily-Rose Depp confided that she was marked by one of her father Johnny Depp’s cult films, by Tim Burton.

While she is making a name for herself in the cinema at the start of the year, in the horror film “Nosferatu”, Lily-Rose Depp gave an interview to the English edition of “Harper’s Bazaar” magazine. An interview during which the young actress confided having been “traumatized” by the film “Edward Scissorhands” in which her father played in 1990.

From the age of 3, the daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis was able to watch the Tim Burton film, in which her father plays a young man created by an inventor with scissors instead of hands. A fantastic feature film which left her “traumatized”: “Not because I found him scary, but because everyone was very mean to him and I was really upset”, remembers the one who has today 25 years old today.

Marked by the end of the film, when the whole town turns against Edward, Lily-Rose has since refused to see him again. “I remember being petrified by it, which is weird, because I don’t have many memories of my childhood,” confides the woman who, twenty years later, plays a woman in the horror film “Nosferatu”. young woman coveted by a vampire. “It’s a difficult childhood memory. Edward is the good guy and Nosferatu is sort of the bad guy, but there’s a part of me that feels a little bit of empathy for Nosferatu. I mean, am I sick of feeling this way? »

Fantastic actor, from father to daughter

Lily-Rose Depp admits to being attracted to the fantasy genre thanks to her father and his long collaboration with Tim Burton: “We are very different actors, but of course, we are the product of our environment, and it’s a world that has always interested me a lot,” explains the one who was “obsessed” with Dracula as a child, when her brother Jack Depp liked to dress up as a vampire to go to school.

During this interview, the Franco-American also spoke about her dual nationality. “I really feel this paradox within me. French and American cultures are very different, and yet I really feel connected to both,” explains the Chanel muse, who was born in but grew up in California. “I’m very close to the French half of my family, but I only had French girlfriends five years ago. I have my best friends from Los Angeles forever,” added the partner of rapper 070 Shake.
