He is only 13 years old but Jules, originally from Hénanbihen (Côtes-d’Armor), between Dinan and Lamballe, has already played at the Bobital-L’Armor festival in Sons. He has just participated in the show Face B on Briochine radio station Radio Active. A hit for the young boy, who is clearly not afraid to enter the arena.
In the world of festivals
“Very early on he came with me behind the decks and one thing led to another and he took the lead,” assures Jean-Louis, who has, over the past 25 years, hosted more than 200 weddings. What I like is the world of parties, making people have fun. Jules is more about festivals, and Brittany is a land of festivals.”
Jules started mixing when he was 6 years old and an old photo shows him even behind the decks well before this age.
“He also tried his hand at the guitar but he quickly gave up,” laughs Jean-Louis, who supports his son. It must be said that Jules is a good student, so letting him pursue his passion is a bit of a carrot.”
Getting ready for class
As Jules explained during his appearance on the radio, his stage name, DJ Juliusnaturally emerged while the young boy was researching the etymology of his first name.
“I discovered that it was linked to the Roman world, so we also developed a logo on this theme,” explains Jules, who prepared his set for two weeks, every morning and every evening, returning from his classes at Paul Sébillot college.
I look for what I can play, what people will like. I see how I can mix. It has to be audible. I like working on songs, adding things to them. Doing it my way, taking everything and making something good out of it. More than listening, I especially like playing.
And to nevertheless cite the name of some famous DJsincluding Bob Sinclair, David Guetta, Martin Solveig and the very good Daft Punk.
‘French touch’ of mixing
“There is a French Touch, and many very good DJs among those less known,” adds Jules’ dad.
Value does not depend on the number of years. Jules already has great technique, know-how and all the necessary equipment. “The garage is full of them,” smiles the young DJ who also produces whenever he has time.
Stress? Jules doesn’t seem to know him. He rather concedes a little impatience.
Jules dreams of becoming a professional. But if he doesn’t break through, he will make his place in events or technology.
For now, DJ Julius will perform at the launch party for the L’Armor à Sons festival program in June 2025. A private event in front of the partners of this festival for which Jules is also a volunteer. It’s a bit of a mascot!
“You work, you are rewarded”
“I work on editing the week before the event. I was raised like that. You work, you are rewarded.”
On July 11, 2025, for the passage of the Tour de France in the town, DJ Julius will not fail to appear behind the decks at Saint-Samson as part of the activities prepared by the Samson ni Lumière 22 association. A young shoot to follow.
