In 2025, the Paris region will host several productions of Anglo-American musicals. A quick overview of this exciting program!
Hello, Dolly!
The Lido2Paris end-of-year 2024 musical extends its performances until February 4, 2025. This great American classic takes us through an ordinary day for matchmaker Dolly Gallagher Levi. From New York to Yonkers, this woman with a strong character will achieve the feat of marrying four couples in 24 hours. A classic of the genre not to be missed.
Titanic
The parody show based on Céline Dion’s hits which recently celebrated its 1000th performance in New York will see a French production at Lido2Paris. After Australia, Canada and London, it’s the turn of the French capital to discover this completely crazy musical comedy. From April 24, 2025.
Company
Stephen Sondheim’s masterpiece (and my favorite musical) will be performed on March 8 and 9, 2025 at the Opéra de Massy then on March 15 and 16, 2025 at the Opéra de Compiègne before going on tour in France and in Switzerland. This 1970 musical comedy is still as relevant today both in its form and in its subject matter. At 35, Bobby is still not married. The thoughts that this situation entails, his indecision about this form of commitment, are the subject of lively discussions with those close to him. The purpose of the show, constructed in the form of slices of life, without chronology, still resonates as much today.
Gypsy
From April 16 to 19, 2025, the Philharmonie de Paris will present a great classic of American musical comedy. Gypsy is an adaptation of the biography of Gypsy Rose Lee, a famous burlesque performer. The musical primarily focuses on his mother and the defining role she played in the artist’s career. The lyrics of the show – which is currently experiencing a revival in New York – are by Stephen Sondheim.
The Young Ladies of Rochefort
The most American of French musicals will see a new production on the Lido2Paris stage from October 2025. Jacques Demy’s film was already adapted in 2003 at the Palais de Congrès.
La Cage aux Folles
It was certain that with the success of Drag Race France, a production of the Cage aux Folles would be mounted in 2025 in Paris. Adapted by Harvey Fierstein in 1983 from the play by Jean Poiret, this musical is much less awkward than the original material. The show notably includes cabaret moments that break the fourth wall. To be discovered from December 5, 2025 at the Théâtre du Châtelet.
