At the Grand Opera: “Madame Angot’s Daughter” in a revised version

Initially, the action of this comic opera by Charles Lecocq takes place at the end of the 18th century, under the Directory. The version proposed here by director Richard Brunel is peppered with nods to May 1968, to the (4L car) factories on strike, to an occupied cinema, to the CRS exits and even to Jacques Demy.

On stage, it’s a maelstrom of musical bliss, which will remind some of the light and lively atmospheres dear to a certain Jacques Offenbach. It’s a gallery of croquignolet characters immersed in working-class .

It is also an ideal entertainment to close the year 2024 at the Opéra Grand Avignon. Chloé Dufresne will conduct the Avignon-Provence National Orchestra.

December 31 at 8 p.m. the Grand Avignon Opera; from 8 to 75 €.
