In which country do you find the best food in the world? The popular online food portal ‘uselage riddled with holes’ looked into this question and evaluated the tastes of more than 477,000 verified users. Around 15,000 foods and dishes were put to the vote. While Italy was in first place last year, it had to fall one place this year: Greece took the title of the 100 best cuisines in the world in 2024/2025. Here is the ranking of the five best cuisines, according to “TasteAtlas”.

The top 5 is dominated by European countries. It is Portugal which opens the ball with a score of 4.50 points, thus narrowly winning against the country ranked sixth, Turkey.

Must be tasted according to “TasteAtlas”: 100% Iberian bellota jam (jambon), Carne dos Açores (viande des Açores), Pastel de Belém (tartelettes), Olive Oil from Trás-os-Montes (huile d’olive) and Carne Barrosã (viande de Barrosa)

Spain obtains 4.50 points in the ranking and is thus placed in 4th position.

Must be tasted according to the “TasteAtlas”: 100% Iberian acorn-fed ham (jambon), Paprika from La Vera (piment fumé), Scallops in their shell (coquilles Saint-Jacques) and Saffron from La Mancha (safran).

Mexico is the only non-European country in the top 5, scoring 4.52 points and placing third.

Must be tasted according to the “TasteAtlas”: Quesabirria (tacos), Chiltomate (salsa), Camarones enchipotlados (marinated shrimp), Chinantla Vanilla (wild vanilla) and Chilorio (roasted pork).

Winner last year, now in second place: this time Italy had to give up first place to another country. However, the race was close. With 4.59 points, Italy is only a hair ahead of Greece, which obtained 4.60 points.

Must be tasted according to “TasteAtlas”: Neapolitan Pizza, Parmigiano Reggiano (parmesan), Gianduja (pâte à tartiner aux noisettes et au chocolat), S. Marzano Tomato from Agro Sarnese-Nocerino and Pachino Tomato (varieties of tomatoes)

Greece emerged victorious and can officially claim to have the best cuisine in the world.

Must be tasted according to “TasteAtlas”: Fystiki Aeginas (Greek pistachio), Finiki Lakonias and Kalamata (olive oils), Fava Santorinis (yellow peas) and Portokalia Maleme Chanion Kritis (orange variety).
