On this Christmas Eve, the church was far too small to accommodate all the friends who came to say a final goodbye to Robert Guitard, who left too soon after a long illness.
For years, he was passionately involved in the animation of pétanque, alongside Claude Bordenave and Henri Monpagens. Then, with his wife Adeline, he turned to the Friendship Club.
In 2002, after the death of Georges Sarrette, Robert took over as president of the club. With Adeline, they were fully invested in this mission. This club was their baby. Under their leadership, it prospered and became a real place of conviviality, punctuated by lotto, games of belote, picnics, warm meals and unforgettable trips. So many shared memories!
Working with Robert was a unique experience, always marked by his good humor, his jokes and his infectious laughter. But in 2023, the disease caught up with him. True to his character as a fighter, he led this fight with courage, but it was she who had the last word.
The Friendship Club owes him a huge debt and would like to pay tribute to him for everything he has accomplished. Today, Monique Lenoir takes up the torch, faithful to the promise she made to him, and will strive to preserve this precious heritage to honor his memory.
“With the departure of Robert, a page turns, but his memory will remain engraved in our hearts. His absence will leave a great void, both within the club and in our lives. To Adeline, his wife, as well as to all his family, we send our sincere condolences and wish them much courage in this ordeal. Goodbye, Robert. You will remain forever among us, in our hearts and in the soul of this club that you loved so much.
La Dépêche du Midi joins this tribute and sends its sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.
