Each season, the Via Domitia Pierre-Paul Riquet Academy rewards talents in the fields of , singing or art. It will hold its solemn winter session this Saturday, December 7, from 2:30 p.m., at the municipal theater.

Crowning excellence… The Via Domitia Pierre-Paul Riquet Academy, chaired by Jean-Claude Nougaret, will hold its solemn winter session this Saturday, December 7at the municipal theater. A session that is obviously a bit special since it closes a year rich in discoveries and valuable encounters.

“During this winter session, a rich and varied cultural and artistic program will be enhanced by a hodgepodge of songs and music. In accordance with our cultural mission, the jury selected 8 Prizes of Merit (read below)which will reward talented artistic personalities from Béziers in choral singing, photography, music, plastic arts (drawing), lyrical singing and citizenship., indicates Jean-Claude Nougaret, the founding president of this cultural body.

A Grand Prize for Citizenship

In terms of citizenship, the Prize of Excellence will be replaced by the Grand Prize for Citizenship 2024. “Our academy wants to be in tune with the times. Contrary to a society strongly marked by individualism, this innovative prize highlights a citizenship of commitment carrying an ambition, an important project for the city, embodied by a person from voluntary civil society who works in favor of the general interest. In the event, it is Jean-Marie Platet, founder of the association Béziers artisans center-city (BACV).

On the program for this day: opening of the solemn winter session at the municipal theater, at 2:30 p.m., with an awards ceremony interspersed with numerous musical and/or artistic moments (free entry), followed, from 7 p.m., a gala evening with dinner at Clos de Maussanne (reservations are closed), in Béziers.

The list of nominees for the Merit Awards

The solemn winter session will be held this Saturday, December 7 under the presidency of Michel Maffesoli, sociologist and professor emeritus at -Descartes University. Will be rewarded:
– Grand prize for choral singing Gabriel-Bacquier awarded to the Petits Chanteurs de la Trinité.
– Grand prize for art: Aline Chambert, photographer.
– Grand Prize of Excellence: Jean-Marie Platet, founder of the BACV association.
– Saint-Saëns Music Grand Prize: Andreï Freidine, clarinet teacher at the Béziers Conservatory.
– Grand prize for plastic art: Mylène Frichti-Roux, visual artist.
– Georges-Brassens Singing Grand Prize: Yannick Moya, founder of the “Males au choir de Tolosa”.
