A surprise confession. After fighting a severe eye infection this summer which had already caused him to lose the use of his right eye, Elton John revealed this Sunday 1is December that it had finally caused him to completely lose his sight. Guest at the premiere of the musical The Devil Wears Prada at the Dominion Theater in London, the 77-year-old singer spoke about his recent health problems.
“As some of you may know, I have had some problems and now I have lost my sight. I didn't get to see the performance but I enjoyed it, he revealed as he took to the theater stage.

An infection contracted in France
In an interview given to Good Morning America On November 25, the pop legend confirmed that he contracted this eye infection in July 2024, while vacationing in the south of France.
“It floored me a little, and I don’t see anything. I can’t read anything, I can’t look at anything,” he explained, adding that his “left eye is not in the best shape.” An infection which blocked him from the production of his next album. “I'm a little stuck at the moment (…) because I can't go to the studio or record,” he confided, specifying that he couldn't read the lyrics.
