Our colleagues from Western Mail learned from his father, Richard Vella, a former press correspondent. Nino Vella, 31, died on Monday 1is July, in Paris. Member of the duo Rouquine with Sébastien Rousselet, they had just released their second album, Mammalsin March 2024, and were due to go on tour in 2025.

Collaborations with Olivia Ruiz, Eddy de Pretto…

Originally from Cholet (Maine-et-Loire), Nino Vella learned his trade at the conservatory for fifteen years, in classical and jazz. He began to earn his living by composing for theater and documentaries, and in parallel with his concerts with a first group called Babel, then even ended up doing the music for a film for Netflix, How I Became a Superhero.

But not only that. The artist also composes for rappers Boostee and Lord Esperanza, tours with Yseult, works with Olivia Ruiz, Claudio Capéo and Eddy de Pretto, for the big names. “I’m crossing several different styles of music, as I’ve always loved to do,” he told us in April 2023.

With Angevin Sébastien Rousselet, he created an electro-pop duo. In September 2021, Rouquine’s first EP was released; a month later, the duo won the final of the France 2 talent show The Artist . Their first album, Masculine born in August 2022.

In Cholet, the Glass Garden is in mourning: “He was someone the team liked. Rouquine had come in January 2022.”
