Singer Khalid came out in a series of publications on X, after being “outed” by a former companion.

“Next topic please!” On social media, American R&B star Khalid revealed his homosexuality after being “outed” – his sexual orientation publicly revealed without his permission.

“I was outed and the Earth continues to spin. Let’s be clear, I’m not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality, it’s nobody’s business. But I’m OK with myself,” the artist wrote to the 51 million monthly listens on the Spotify streaming listening platform.

“I never hid it. It’s just absolutely none of your business,” adds the 26-year-old artist in another message posted on X.

“It’s okay”

At the origin of this public outing, another message posted on the same social network by a man, claiming to be a former companion of the artist and which was widely relayed – it has since been deleted.

“I dated this idiot singer (…) he tried to trick me, lie and say that I broke into his house because I broke up with him”, we could read in this message, accompanied by a photo of the then couple.

“Wait, I hope Khalid isn’t gay?”, reacted another user of X. “I am! And that’s ok,” replied the artist.

At 26 years old, Khalid is one of the most promising R&B artists of his generation. Nominated for the next Grammy Awards, which will take place on February 2 in Los Angeles, he unveiled his third album, Sincerelast August.
