Moroccan music has made a meteoric rise in the Arab world over the past ten years, noted Arab song diva Samira Said on Thursday in Rabat.

During a press conference on the eve of her concert, Friday at the Mohammed V National Theater in Rabat, as part of the 19th Mawazine Festival – rhythms of the world, the famous Moroccan singer highlighted the significant progress in the mechanisms of Moroccan music, which helped accelerate its diffusion, while highlighting the continued importance of social media in this evolution.

In this regard, she stressed that “previous generations did not benefit from the same opportunities as today’s to fully exploit the effectiveness and impact of various social media, which play a crucial role in the dissemination of various national musical creations.”

After discussing the wealth of talent on the Moroccan artistic scene, Samira Said noted that “the expansion of Moroccan music on a global scale remains hampered by cultural obstacles, including the growing need for a better understanding of Darija.”
To remedy this, she encourages young talents to take over to promote Moroccan song on an international scale.

The Moroccan artist did not fail to express her joy at participating in the Mawazine festival, an international artistic event of which “we are very proud”, underlining her deep connection with Rabat, her hometown, which hosts this musical event. annual.

She announced that she will present a diverse selection including both her new creations and emblematic songs from her artistic repertoire, with the aim of captivating the Mawazine audience while evoking the nostalgia of childhood memories.

In response to a question about her intention to create a music academy in Morocco, Samira Said explained that the idea of ​​this project is still very much in her mind, estimating that, for the moment, the logistical conditions to realize this initiative are not yet met.

Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the 19th edition of the Mawazine-rythmes du monde Festival (June 21-29) is organized by the Maroc Cultures Association under the sign of “diversity and celebration”.

This major cultural event offers a rich and varied programme bringing together stars from the world and Arab repertoire and making Rabat and Salé the scene of exceptional encounters between the public and renowned artists.
