Follow The Awakening of Pont-Audemer
Brigitte Bardot, Line Renaud, Béatrice Dalle, Marlène Dietrich, Françoise Sagan, Marlène Jobert, etc. A good number of stars or personalities have passed through the hands or rubbed shoulders with Alexandre Zouari. The hairdresser to the stars and fashion designer is now based in Trouville-la-Haule (Eure), near Pont-Audemer, in the Domaine de la Boissière. A few days ago, he showed his 2.5 ha property to a few elected officials during a visit from Eureka, the Eure attractiveness agency. For a year and a half, Alexandre Zouari has been offering luxurious suites for rental.
Over the past few months, Ophélie Winter or even Nicoletta stayed in one of the suites at his Domaine. It must be said that the famous hairdresser has become friends with many celebrities met in his salon or during Parisian evenings. In particular, there was Regine“a great friend, who knew me very young,” says Alexandre Zouari. In his book written with Judith Carraz, Confidences of a beauty magicianpublished in 2006, he reveals some indiscretions and the names of personalities he met.
His own role in a film
His first big encounter, in the 60s, with a specific name? Countess Marie-Laure de Noailles. Subsequently, Alexandre Zouari, who opened his salon in Paris, saw rich Iranian and Lebanese clients enter his salon. Thus, it will be chosen to style the granddaughter of the King of Saudi Arabia for his marriage. Subsequently, everyone in Paris will come to have their hair done by the famous hairdresser.
In 1976, he was contacted by the magazine leader, Line Renaud :
When I was asked to take care of her (Line Renaud), I felt intense emotion.
He also meets international stars such as Marlene DietrichGerman actress and singer, naturalized American. “He is the only huge cinema star that I have had the chance and the honor to meet during my life,” continues Alexandre Zouari.
Film teams call on him. At the end of the 1960s, he was responsible for styling Marlene Jobert pour The rain passenger. During the same period, part of the film The bear and the dollwith Brigitte Bardot and Jean-Pierre Cassel, is filmed in his Parisian living room. Finally, the scene will be cut during editing.
Of course, the one who calls himself “the Figaro of these ladies” does not reveal everything:
In a hair salon, silence is golden and confidentiality is priceless, but paradoxically, it is also the place where tongues are loosened.
In 2000, it was the apotheosis! Alexandre Zouari plays himself in the film Jet Set by Fabien Onteniente. He finds his friend there Ornalla Muti, Italian actress: “A twenty-year friendship does not disappear overnight. » In his book, he says he is “a little disappointed by the film itself”. “I nevertheless have wonderful memories of filming, partly thanks to Ornalla [Muti] and to my friend Emmanuel de Brantes,” he adds.
A taste for beauty
In his work, Alexandre Zouari, friend of Françoise Sagan, also recounts having styled the singer Jeanie Bennett’s hair in 1968 for the musical Hairhairstyle Bernadette Chirac (the official godmother of her salon) and her daughter Claude, met Ivana Trump (the ex-wife of President Trump) or even sold around thirty dresses and accessories to Elizabeth Taylor, the British-American actress. The hairdresser to the stars had also been contacted by Béatrice Dallewho wanted to “become blonde”. Finally, after 24 hours, she wanted to go back to being a brunette.
How was her passion for hairdressing and fashion born? “My mother loved entertaining and looking beautiful for friends and relatives. It was surely she who was the first to highlight my sense of aesthetics, my taste for beauty, glamour, chic,” he explains in his book.
Alexandre Zouari admitted that he did not “hold the keys to success”: “I worked a lot, but I was also very lucky. I made choices, including that of favoring creativity, eccentricity, “gentle madness”. One day we are “in fashion”, the next day we are no longer fashionable. » His designs always seem fashionable. Although his hair salon in Deauville is closed, he continues to create head jewelry and accessories, with two collections per year. To the delight of Asians.
An estate restored 32 years ago
After living for several years in Fatouville-Grestain, Alexandre Zouari was looking for a residence, still close to Paris.
I have always loved Normandy. It’s not far from Paris, there’s greenery and I like the local area.
32 years ago, he discovered the Domaine de la Boissière. “It was a ruin,” he remembers. However, he is convinced that he will find what he is looking for there and “buys in half an hour”. It will take three years to renovate the (private) 18th century castle, transform the old press into suites and develop the park by replanting numerous trees.
Today, the public can discover the Domaine de la Boissière by staying in one of the suites, transformed twenty years ago and perfectly decorated. A real world tour. “I have had the chance to travel a lot, to Japan, China, the Middle East, etc. » In the old press restored in the old style with its half-timberings, we discover the colonial suites, “private apartments” on one level, opening onto the garden and swimming pool. Each of the suites has a king size bed, a living room and its private bathroom.
In total, they can accommodate up to fourteen people. The suites include five rooms including two connecting suites on the ground floor, two “junior” suites and a Deluxe room on the upper floor. Without forgetting a kitchen, an office vestibule, a living-dining room on the ground floor coupled with a reading room upstairs. On the other side of the heated swimming poolthe pool house has a large kitchen dining room, a large living room with fireplace and a mezzanine bedroom. “The swimming pool also attracts people from the region,” emphasizes Alexandre Zouari. The Domaine de la Boissière is not just for the starsof course, but you still need to have some means to take advantage of these luxurious rentals in the middle of the Normandy countryside.
