Injured by a horse on Sunday, Princess Anne left Bristol hospital on Friday where she was being treated.

Princess Anne is doing better. Hospitalized on Monday, June 24 in Bristol after a concussion, the sister of King Charles III left Southmead Hospital on Friday, June 28. According to Sky News, which reports the information, she is expected to return to her home in Gatcombe Park, Gloucestershire. She will rest there until doctors judge her fit to resume her public engagements.

The princess, 73, was admitted with “minor injuries and concussion” after an incident at her home, Buckingham Palace said on Monday. The circumstances were not specified but the Guardian reported that her concussion was similar to an injury caused by a horse’s leg or head.

“Slowly but surely”

Her husband, Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence, sent his “warmest thanks to the entire team at Southmead Hospital for their care, expertise and kindness during (his) wife’s short stay”.

He visited her on Tuesday June 25. Questioned upon his exit by Sky News, he confided that the Princess Royal was “fine” and that she was recovering “slowly but surely” from the shock. He also specified that he had brought her “a few little treats from home”.

A high-level equestrian, the Princess Royal represented her country at the Montreal Olympic Games in 1976. It is on horseback that she participates in numerous official military parades, such as the June 15th for the one marking the official birthday of Charles III.

Timothy Laurence is the second husband of the princess, married from 1973 to 1992 to Mark Phillips, also an accomplished rider, with whom she had two children, Peter and Zara.

Princess Anne is one of the most active members of the royal family. She notably represented King Charles after the announcement of his cancer last February. The king’s sister had to cancel her commitments during her hospitalization, as well as an official trip to Canada, where she was due to go at the end of June.
