Fez – The 28th edition of the Fez CineVille Festival, which will continue until November 22, kicked off on Tuesday evening, particularly highlighting female creativity through the theme “Women express themselves through his films”.
Speaking on this occasion, the director of the festival, Rachid Cheikh, highlighted the exceptional quality of the films selected this year, promising spectators screenings of high artistic and cinematographic value. The festival also offers a rich program of meetings and “master classes” aimed at deepening reflection on the role of urban spaces in cinematographic creation.
The personalities honored during the opening ceremony expressed their deep gratitude, emphasizing the importance of this recognition as a source of inspiration for their future artistic creations.
In a statement to MAP, the president of the International Union of Lawyers, Driss Chater, stressed that film festivals like that of Fez CineVille play an important role in revitalizing the national cinematic landscape.
For Mr. Chater, “these cultural events constitute an essential bridge between creators and the public, allowing us to reconnect with this beautiful tradition of attending cinemas which has so marked our society in the past”.
In the era of digital and streaming, it is essential, according to him, to maintain and strengthen these spaces for meeting and exchange around the 7th art, because they contribute to the promotion of our cinematographic heritage.
The opening ceremony was marked by a vibrant tribute to several emblematic figures of Moroccan cinema. Among the personalities honored, we include the artists Kenza Feridou and Majida Benkirane, whose contributions to the seventh art have been praised. Director Aziz Salmi and lawyer Driss Chater were also recognized for their significant contribution to the world of cinema.
For this 2024 edition, the festival has formed a jury chaired by the president of the International Union of Lawyers, Driss Chater. He will be supported in his mission by director Aziz Salmi, artist and actress Bouchra Chaqroun, as well as screenwriter Hamid Tchiss.
