The singer spoke in a video on Instagram this Wednesday, June 26. He apologizes to his fans, after deliberately shooting himself on the night of April 21 to 22. This Monday, the Mont-de-Marsan prosecutor’s office announced that the singer would ultimately not be prosecuted.
“I really regret everything that happened”, explains Kendji Girac in a video of just over 4 minutes, broadcast on Instagram this Wednesday, June 26 in the evening. The singer apologizes to his fans, two months after deliberately injuring himself by gunshot in a Traveler reception area in Biscarrosse (Landes). “I wanted to let justice do its job. Now that this is the case, I wanted to speak to you”explains the singer of Color Gitano. This Monday, June 24, the public prosecutor of Mont-de-Marsan (Landes), Olivier Janson, published a press release explaining that Kendji Girac would not be prosecuted by the courts.
“I got into a spiral that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I lost myself”, details the singer. He indicates having taken “bad habits” avant «l’accident»referring to his consumption of alcohol and narcotics. “From my message of May 10, I didn’t give you any news, because I had to take care of myself and think about what had happened to understand how I got to this point. And above all, make the right decisions for the future”continues Kendji Girac.
The participant in the 2014 edition of the show The Voice who says he needs time to think, and says he is getting help. The singer must in fact be subject to “health care” for six months.
The Kendji affair
“I want to go back to being the boy I was.”expresses Kendji Girac again. “As you know, I almost lost my life, the love of my family, my audience, my friends. My daughter almost lost her father. I do not know what happened”, indicates the singer. He says he wants to start off on the right foot while regaining the trust of his audience: “my goal is to make people happy […] God gave me this second chance, it’s not for nothing”. “I can’t wait to see you again”he finishes.
During the night from Sunday to Monday, April 22, Kendji Girac was shot and injured in a Traveler reception area in Biscarrosse, in the Landes, after shooting himself. The singer was hospitalized near Bordeaux after a serious gunshot wound to the chest in Biscarosse (Landes). A few days later, during a press conference, the Mont-de-Marsan prosecutor explained that the artist had wanted “fake suicide” to scare his partner who threatened to leave him after an argument. Kendji Girac finally backed down during a hearing, explaining that he was not aware of what he was doing, given his alcoholism and his cocaine intake that evening.
