The Queen tribute tour will stop at the Angers exhibition park on Wednesday November 27. This show imagined and carried by the Caramia brothers already has a million spectators and has 600 dates until 2026 in the largest venues in France. Meeting with the singer of the group, Frédéric Caramia whose vocal and stage performances honor the incredible talent of Freddie Mercury.
Why did you decide to dedicate your artistic career to Queen?
Frédéric Caramia: “At first I didn’t intend to do that because I was a musician like all the musicians who compose their songs and who is trying to do something. But it’s quite difficult. So my brother and I had the idea of creating a show. We were quite fans of rock, Bon Jovi, Scorpion, Aerosmith, Queen… My brother told me that my voice was closest to Freddie Mercury. So we chose Queen.”
It’s an ambitious choice to tackle such a musical register…
“Yes, but I couldn’t see myself doing anything else. I saw it as a challenge. I knew it was super difficult. It took a lot of work to achieve this result. I worked on my voice a lot. I took lyrical singing lessons with artists from the Paris Opera to be able to have ease in the voice and to go up to high notes quite easily, to have vocal power and to use all the resonances of the voice. It all took me several years.”
Are there still pieces you’re having difficulty with?
