On the coast, the return of sunny days is punctuated each year by numerous musical festivals. At Hardelot Castle, baroque music comes to the fore with the Midsummer Festival. Two weekends to celebrate the ties that unite France and Great Britain, at the Élisabéthain theater, a mecca on the Opal Coast.

After Carmen, a “traveling landscape” opera staged at the Château d’Hardelot last weekend, this Friday, June 28, it’s time for a concert where the Enchantresses meet the chivalrous heroes of Handel’s famous operas. On the bill for the Midsummer Festival is none other than the young Lauranne Oliva, 23-year-old soprano and finalist of the 5th edition of the prestigious “Concours Voix Nouvelles”. We will also find alongside him on stage, Christophe Dumaux, counter tenor.

On Saturday, a change of scenery with “Music and cup of tea” which invites you to explore a completely different universe, that of Marin Marais, violist and French composer of the Baroque period. A genius in the history of music, you can discover or rediscover this artist through “his sonatas found”. Performed by three musicians, this one-hour concert will be held in the castle’s winter garden.

This festival will end in style on Sunday, with a spiritual concert for an eminently royal finale: God save the King. A journey through time, a jump into the past that will transport you to the 17the century, thanks to an orchestra which will perform the coronation music of King George II.

The last weekend of the Midsummer Festival will be held from June 28 to 30 at the Château d’Hardelot located in Condette.
