This rainy and stormy deterioration is explained by the arrival of a “cold drop” from Spain. “Heavy rain, large hail and strong gusts of wind to be feared,” warns Météo-France.

Rainfall accumulations of up to 80 mm

According to the latest bulletin from Météo-France, violent storms will arrive late tonight in the regions from Landes to Poitou. According to forecasts, they will mainly be accompanied by heavy rain and, locally, hail. The cumulative precipitation could reach 50 to 80 mm in just a few hours.

Then, a second salvo will circulate from the southwest to the northeast of the country during the afternoon. “The storms will be more violent over a large northeastern quarter of the country, with the possibility of cumulative rainfall of 50 to 80 mm in a short time,” indicates Météo-France. They will be accompanied by very strong gusts of wind, up to more than 100 km/h locally, as well as hailstones.
