The Pink parade 2024 takes place this Sunday afternoon between the port of Nice and the Théâtre de Verdure with, one week before the first round of the legislative elections, a call to oppose the “extreme right”.

It’s a colorful, musical… and protest march. In Nice, the Pink parade, a parade organized by the Azurian Gay and Lesbian Expression Association (Aglae), celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

The parade set off from Place Île-de-Beauté shortly after 4 p.m. this Sunday, to reach the Théâtre de Verdure, where a concert is planned from 6 p.m.

This festive parade for the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans, queer, intersex and asexual people, which brings together several thousand people, has the slogan this year: “Proud, fierce, indomitable”.

But the demonstration also takes a particularly political turn exactly one week before the first round of the legislative elections caused by the dissolution decided by the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron.

The demands of the organizers are very explicit: “while the far right is at the gates of power, we want to promote an inclusive and respectful society, promoting living together and respect”.

Several left-wing parties and unions, including the CGT, the FSU and activists from the New Popular Front, who were gathered at Place Garibaldi, joined the ranks of this march.
