HAS Paimpol (Côtes-d’Armor), the musical season of APAC, the Armor philharmonique and friends of culture, continues with a exceptional concert this Saturday, November 16 at the Kérity church. THE College Orpheus directed by Jean-Marc Labylle, will visit the “music of the time of Louis XV.
An ensemble of musicians and 25 singers
The Collegium Orpheus reunited 25 singers, accompanied by four soloiststwo singers and two flautists.
It explores the music of the period of Louis XV (1715-1775), with works by Vivaldi, Corette and Mondonville.
Through this concert, I wish to show the musical evolution of this period, where Italian influence mixed with new French aspirations. It is an accessible and melodious program which invites listeners to listen which oscillates between lightness and stylistic richness.
French composers
This concert highlights rare pieces, such as the concerto for two flutes ferries Vivaldi and two other little-known works, while paying homage to Michel Corrette, composer from Rouen who lived through the French Revolution.
Correct, prolific organisthad notably written a daring psalm based on Vivaldi’s “Spring”, enriched with solo voices and additional movements to express his vision.
The program also includes the second motet of Mondonville, a French composer influenced by Italian style, but who was able to assert a specifically French character in his music.
This motet, with marked stylistic effects, highlights the role of French composers in the revival of Italian music in the 18th century.e century.
Saturday November 16 at 6 p.m., at the Kérity church (Paimpol). Entrances: €20/€16. Ticket office www.apac22.fr and at the entrance to the concert
