Almost intractable since the start of the season, with only one defeat in five days, Hennebontais Vladimir Sidorenko easily won the first match of the evening, beating former French international Alexandre Cassin in four sets. Effective in the first set (11-5), the left-handed Russian lost in the second (9-11), before masterfully winning the following two sets (11-6, 11-3).
In match 2, Lim Jonghoon visibly in difficulty, from the start against the experienced Austrian Robert Gardos, lost in three straight sets. A big disappointment for the Hennebontais camp, insofar as the South Korean from the blue house, bronze medalist at the Paris Olympics in mixed doubles, had held off the Lebrun brothers, during the previous trip to Nîmes-Montpellier , “titillating” them until the deciding set.
After the break, the Hennebontais hope Iulian Chirita suffered the same fate as Lim Jonghoon by also losing his match in three sets, in the meeting which pitted him against Alexandre Robinot, brother of the former Hennebontais Quentin Robinot. Worrying for the Bretons, the last two distilled scores seemed weak against the Normans, who were visibly inspired.
Hennebont does violence and wins the match!
Getting off to a bad start in match 4, losing the first set, Lim Jonghoon, returned to the table, raised his level of play and got the better of Alexandre Cassin. Enough to put the Hennebontais back on track, with the return of Vladimir Sidorenko at the end of the evening, who defeated Robert Gardos (3-0) and offered victory to the Bretons.
