“Thank you to God, to my team who works tirelessly, and especially to you, my amazons and my fighters for your love,” exclaimed the Ivorian diva during the awards ceremony which celebrated the talents and works that marked the past year in the world of African music. Beyond Josey’s awards, several other artists saw their efforts recognized during this evening. The Jayli tribute was awarded to the late Papa Wemba, a legend of African music. His prize was given to his wife, mother Amazone, in the presence of his ex-manager. A recognition that testifies to the lasting impact of the Congolese legend on African music and on the generations of musicians he inspired.
In turn, the Congolese singer, Fally Ipupa, won his third trophy in two years in this ceremony. He was crowned best male artist in Central Africa. Didi B received the prize for best Ivorian male artist, while the Nigerian Asake was crowned best African artist of the year with his title “Lonely at the top”.
The prize for best artist in Southern Africa was awarded to South African Tyla, author of the hit “Water” and many others.
Initiated by C.Waï and Panoramic, Jayli Awards is a prestigious awards ceremony for the best music players on the African continent. The event aims to promote musical excellence and support artistic creation based on rigorous technical criteria. This continental reference meeting aspires to become the equivalent of the Grammy Awards or the Oscars in the United States, in terms of gender diversity, credibility, and international influence. The ambition is to forge a strong link between the different regions of Africa through music.
Beyond recognizing the best artists of the year, the Jayli Awards offer a festive experience, punctuated by musical performances by African and international artists, celebrating the richness of the African music scene.
