King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands concluded his trip to the Nordic countries this Thursday, November 14. The sovereign made his last visits to Norway, on the theme of energy. At lunchtime, King Harald V, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon and Princess Astrid invited King Willem-Alexander to lunch.

Crown Prince Haakon accompanies King Willem-Alexander on his visits to Oslo
King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, 57, has been visiting the Nordic countries since the start of the week. After making several visits to Denmark, accompanied by King Frederik X, it was in Norway that the Dutch sovereign continued his journey. On Wednesday, King Willem-Alexander visited energy companies in Bergen and the surrounding area. This Thursday, on his last day, King Willem-Alexander visited Oslo.
The day started in Høvik, where the Hystar company has its innovation laboratory. Hystar produces electrolysis plants. Electrolyzers play an important role in the production of green hydrogen, a clean energy source that can be used in a number of industries and transportation to reduce carbon emissions. Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, 51, accompanied the King of the Netherlands on the visit.

Private lunch between royalty before departure
The King and the Crown Prince participated in round tables with Norwegian and Dutch business leaders at Oslo City Hall. The discussions will continue during a cruise in the port of Oslo. During the cruise, there will be a presentation of the initiatives taken to green the port.
Lunch was then hosted by King Harald V, 87, and Queen Sonja, 87, at the Royal Palace in Oslo. Crown Prince Haakon reunited with his family to share this private lunch among royalty. Princess Astrid, 92, sister of King Harald, was also present.

Although the Dutch royal family is one of the royal families with the fewest close cousins to other royal families, King Harald and King Willem-Alexander still have ancestors in common. The two sovereigns are distant cousins, both descendants of William of Nassau, who was sovereign of the Duchy of Nassau from 1816 to 1839.
