The group Catharsisfrom Falaise, in Calvados, is a very young group formed in 2023, offering alternative rock metal. It is made up of Leyla on vocals, Evan on guitar, Axel on drums, all 3 aged 18, and Robin, 15, on bass. Their meeting took place in the 1st music specialty at the Malherbe high school in Caen.
The group was formed quite naturally having all the same musical influences of rock metal. “We started as two, with Leyla,” says Falaisian Evan, “then Axel joined us. And we needed a bass player, so I asked my brother Robin. “
Once the group is formed, rehearsals take place one or several times a week, “sometimes in high school”. But today, in a musicology faculty for some, in audiovisual BTS in Caen for another, and Robin in Secondary School at Guillaume-le-Conquérant high school in Falaise, rehearsals are less easy to organize. » Also due to the fact that Leyla now lives in Caen and Axel in Evrecy. » It’s more complicated, but we try to see each other every two or three weeks. “
Apprehension
The young group has already performed in public, in different places, including Evrecy, Cahagnes, “and our very first stage at Moho in Caen”, remembers Evan. But having to perform on Saturday November 16 on the stage of the Forum de Falaise on the occasion of the 5th edition of the “Conquerant Metal Fest” Festival, the young people admit to being a little apprehensive.
» We often played in front of friends, family, people we knew. But here, we are aware that we will have to be as professional as possible…” The members of the Catharsis group.
With a little worry, for fear of going first before the other, more established groups, like in front of an audience of more than 300 people. “But conversely, we are also looking forward to being there, to being able to share a stage with groups who are professionals,” emphasizes Leyla. »It’s a chance for us! “
Album recording
A scene during which the group “Catharsis” will offer five songs including a cover. “We essentially play our own compositions…” adds the young singer, who searches for the melodies and the voice, then the writing of the lyrics on Evan’s guitar rhythms.
» We have an album already written, but we don’t have the means to record it! » they regret. A scene which may be important for them and their projects.

In the meantime, the public will be able to find them at springboards in the region.
