Dance master Jean-Marc Généreux will soon star in a new dance show that he imagined and which will feature his own death.

Titled My Dance Storythis brand new general public show, through which he intends to convey a whole range of emotions, will open at his funeral. Stuck in limbo, halfway between paradise and his purgatory, he will relive certain parts of his life there, whether real or imagined.

“We all know life, but no one knows death. This means that my paradise or my purgatory I can make it to my liking”, underlined the dancer of ballroomduring an interview he gave to the QMI Agency earlier this week.

“I liked to imagine what I would leave of my life after my time on Earth and how I could complete it, how I saw it and how I could achieve all the things that I have not yet done,” he continued, indicating that he wanted, with this project, to combine his madness and poetry in every way with dance.

“We are going to visit my life, but through different prisms, different angles and different seasons. Summer is joy and humor, autumn is awareness, winter is the hardest moments of my life, the cold, and spring is hope. , he explained.

The idea of ​​returning to the stage had been in Jean-Marc Généreux’s head for some time now when he first sold his idea to producer Martin Leclerc.

“In my career in France and I, we have always done our shows in a closed world called sports dance. We have toured the world three times with our shows, but in a very niche environment. […] About twenty years ago, I got caught up in the world of television, which coincided with the end of our shows at France and I,” he said initially, adding that By rubbing shoulders with dancers of all kinds and observing them performing in front of an equally diverse audience in Los Angeles, France or Montreal, the taste of returning to a mainstream show germinated in him.

The show My Dance Story will be presented starting in August. It will then stop at the Théâtre Capitole in Quebec, in September, as well as at the Théâtre Maisonneuve at Place des Arts, in October.

Jean-Marc Généreux will also publish a book, first in France, then in Quebec, in which he shares some of his lessons.
