Timothée Chalamet confided in an interview that he was a victim of body shaming (body shaming) early in his career by being told to gain weight if he ever wanted to star in hit films.

Timothée Chalamet recently spoke to Zane Lowe about his acting debut in an interview for Apple .

“If I auditioned for The Labyrinth or Divergentfilms of this type which were all the rage in my time, I was always told: ‘Oh, you don’t have the right body’,” confided the 28-year-old actor.

“I had an agent call me and say, ‘You need to gain weight.’ Not in an aggressive way, but you know,” he added.

The Franco-American actor, who will personify Bob Dylan in the musical biographical film A Complete Unknown, compared his experience of having to find his own way in Hollywood to that of Bob Dylan finding his own during his early years in Minnesota.

A very personal style

So instead of trying to transform her body to land roles in blockbuster movies, the star of Dune said he found a “very personal style” with films like Call Me by Your Name, Beautiful Boy, Lady Bird, Les Filles du docteur March, Miss Stevens et Hot Summer Nights.

“They were low-budget films, but very personal. That’s where I found my rhythm, my confidence, my wanderlust, whatever you want to call it,” added the New York-born actor.

He then got the lead role in the hit films Wonka and the franchise Dune.

Between Wonka et Dune: Part TwoTimothée Chalamet starred in two films that each grossed more than $200 million in the United States in eight months, breaking the box office record set more than 45 years ago by John Travolta, with Saturday Night Fever et Grease.
