Guillaume Meurice affair: the hemorrhage continues at France Inter

Rarely has the departure of a columnist caused such a stir at France Inter. After the dismissal of Guillaume Meurice, following his joke on Netanyahu, four comedians had already slammed the door on public radio: Aymeric Lompret, GieDré, Djamil Le Schlag and Thomas VDB. Two new names have just been added to the list: Doully and Pierre Thévenoux.

On June 12, 2024, Pierre Thévenoux, columnist in Matthieu Noël’s show “Zoom Zoom Zen”, announced on his Instagram account that he was leaving France Inter. “You piss off, Guillaume Meurice. Forced to resign because of your stories. Well, I write two columns a year, so this resignation is not going to cause a big buzz, but we support as best we can,” he writes.

Four days later, Doully, columnist in “Le grand Dimanche soir”, a program where Guillaume Meurice officiated, followed suit. Live, she concluded her final humor post with: “It was really my last column on France Inter my little culs, a huge thank you for everything…”, she managed to say, at the edge tears. “I will miss my family terribly. It’s heartbreaking.”

Guillaume Meurice was fired by France Inter after repeating on the air a controversial joke about the Israeli Prime Minister, whom he had compared to a sort of Nazi without a foreskin, despite a ban from management. This judged that he had shown “repeated disloyalty” and that he had been fired for this reason and not for his joke, justified Adèle Van Reeth, director of France Inter, on the set of the talk -show “Daily”.
