For several decades, Ridley Scott maintains a particular attachment with the Morocconothing could be more natural for him to choose it as a destination to shoot part of the film. This choice reaffirms the essential position of the Kingdom in the global film industry, and the recognition of an emblematic figure of the movie theater for the scenographic treasures and expertise of the profession at Morocco as he generously points out: “Morocco has always held a unique place in my heart,” says Ridley Scott with emotion. “Each time I visit, I am touched by the beauty of its landscapes, the excellence of its teams and the warmth of its people. Coming back here to shoot Gladiator II was much more than a simple choice of decor – it was obvious, a return to a place that deeply inspires me. I am honored to be able to celebrate, through this film, everything that Morocco has to offer to the world of cinema,” he adds.

This particular attachment is reflected in a renewed collaboration with the Moroccan teams, who played a central role in the production of this major film. Gladiator II thus becomes the realization of this creative synergy between Moroccan and international talents, confirming the Morocco as a popular cinema destination and a major player in Hollywood productions.

The new installment takes place 16 years after the events of the original film and focuses on Lucius (grandson of the ancient Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius and son of Lucilla, played by Connie Nielsen). The protagonist lives with his wife and child in Numidia, but after the invasion of general Marcus Acacius (Pedro Pascal), he is sent into slavery, and will repeat the fate of Maximus from the first film. This second opus adds drama, because Lucius, as it turned out in one of the trailers, is in fact the son of the character of Russell Crowe.
