The voice of actor Philippe Caubère – which could notably be heard in the audio guides of the replica of the Cosquer cave in Marseille – will be replaced by a female voice next year, reports France Bleu Provence on Wednesday November 27. The actor is indicted in particular for rape.
The Paca region, which owns the site, and the operator Kléber Rossillon have decided not to communicate officially on the reasons for this transformation. “Close the topic”, “no controversy”“the choice of neutrality”we explain to France Bleu Provence. The new director of Cosquer Méditerranée, Alban de la Goulaine, declares that“we had to change”but as an operator he does not comment.
The new voice of the replica of the cave will definitively replace that of Philippe Caubère in February 2025 on all audio guides. It is already being tested on certain headsets and the commentary is still being adapted to best fit the 35 minutes of the visit on board the small wagons. Philippe Caubère, actor who played in The Glory of my Fatherhad been chosen in particular for his notoriety and his deep voice with a non-caricatural South-Eastern accent. The site’s management made a different choice this time: the voice of actress Julie Trésor, a young woman from Marseille, documentary director and daughter-in-law of footballer Marius Trésor.
Last February, actor Philippe Caubère was indicted for sexual assault, rape and corruption of a minor for alleged acts against three minors. He had been placed under judicial supervision.
