If we tell you that these pants are the solution for days when the weather is nice, but not too much. That it allows you to ventilate your legs while not feeling cold… These are indeed three-quarter length pants or cropped pants. Today, they are back under the sweet name of “Capri pants”. A way to make it sexier?

The return of cropped pants

“In terms of length, it is between the knee and the ankle, but this can vary. The most recent versions even end quite high, at knee level. It should not be confused with Bermuda shorts, as it is slightly wider. Capri pants are always very tight. Just like leggings,” fashion editor David Devriendt tells HLN.

Capri pants are therefore the new trend, already adopted by major fashion store chains such as C&A, H&M and Zara. To wear it well, however, you have to know what to combine it with. It was Audrey Hepburn who first popularized it in the 1950s. Today, Bella Hadid and Alexa Chung have already readopted it.

“Hepburn was the embodiment of three-quarter pants. She was a fan of this garment and wore it in her famous films, such as ‘Sabrina’ and ‘Roman Holiday’. Little by little, we saw it on all the great divas, like Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie O and Brigitte Bardot. Shortly after, the whole world fell for the pants,” explains the expert.

Indeed, cropped pants can visually lengthen the legs. “If you want to optically lengthen your legs, I offer three solutions. One: Choose capri pants that aren’t too tight. Two: real three-quarter pants, which go a little lower, will lengthen your legs more than pants that reach knee height. Third: Pair the pants with a thin shoe or an elegant heel,” he advises.

If Capri pants are back, according to the expert, it’s because there is a desire to dress in a more classy way: no more sneakers, we’re swapping them for moccasins. We also want to show our silhouette and no longer hide it.
