The French actress published a photo on Instagram bluntly calling for opposition to the National Rally during the legislative elections.

Marion Cotillard takes a stand. Saturday June 15, while demonstrations in support of the Popular Front took place throughout France to call for a barrier to the far right, the actress of The kid also called to vote against the National Rally with an Instagram publication.

No text, but a simple selfie: Marion Cotillard appears there dressed in a denim jacket covered with pins. One of them, clearly visible, bears the inscription: “Youth EMM***E the National Front”, the National Front being the former name of the RN.

The date of March 18, 1992, printed on the accessory, suggests that it dates from the French regional elections which took place five days later.

Tense climate

A photo published in a tense political context, since the European elections of June 9 in which the National Rally list led by Jordan Bardella came out on top with 31.47% of the votes. A result in which Emmanuel Macron dissolved the National Assembly, giving rise to early legislative elections on June 30 and July 7. In response, left-wing parties joined forces under the New Popular Front banner to minimize the chances of the far right in the election.

Many artists spoke out to express their concern after the National Rally’s score in the European elections. Notably the rappers Georgio and Médine, the young actor Ben Attal, the singer Voyou and the cartoonist Joann Sfar.
