Savoy. Cécile de France, Pio Marmaï, Camille Chamoux… Les Arcs Film Festival reveals itself

Cécile de , Pio Marmaï, Camille Chamoux, Michel Hazanavicius and international stars Naomi Rapace and Edgar Ramirez… It’s the very top of the bill for the 16th edition of the Arcs Films Festival, the cinema event which launches each year the winter season of the resort. These names are added to those already revealed like the Italian director Matteo Garrone and the French actress Karin Viard, the two guests of honor.

“We feel that the festival is becoming extremely attractive year after year,” rejoices Pierre-Emmanuel Fleurantin, general director of the Arcs Film Festival who came to present this year’s program at the Cœur d’Or cinema in Bourg-Saint-Maurice. And on the film side, fans of the 7th art will be served.

The feature film in preview Attachment by Carine Tardieu with Pio Marmaï will open the festivities on Saturday December 14 in the evening. Cécile de France will come to Les Arcs for the first time to present the film For Love by Élise Otzenberger. When the premiere of Queen mother in which Camélia Jordana plays, who will be traveling, will close the festival.

Be young and express yourself

Among the eclectic selection of films, a good dozen will have youth as their theme. Like Twenty Gods screened after the programming presentation this Friday evening which tells the story of Totone who tries as best he can to make a county after the tragic death of his father. And when it comes to young people, who better than Salomé Saqué, author of the book Be young and shut up (Payot, 2022) to talk about it. The journalist will host a debate on this subject at Sowo on Saturday December 14.

Still young, the high school students of the cinema option of the Bourg-Saint-Maurice school campus were entitled to their own selection. This year they chose Lads a film which follows the journey of Ethan, 17 years old, a convict who tries to reintegrate into the world of jockeys.

But the common thread of the festival remains Europe. And this year, the destination in the spotlight will be Iceland. “It’s a small country with few inhabitants but which has a number of incredible artists, great directors with this slightly perched side and this Nordic-style humor,” explains Guillaume Calop, general delegate of Arcs Films Festival.

Finally, on the competition side, the Crystal Arrow will be awarded during the closing ceremony on Friday October 20. As for the Woman in Cinema prize, this year it will go to Paola Cortellesi, Italian director and actress of the moving There is still tomorrow to the 5 million entries beyond the Alps. In short, a rich program awaits skiers in Les Arcs from December 14 to 21. We can only hope that snow will also be among the guests.
