The Une Terre, un Elsewhere readers’ prize rewards “Les contemplées” by Pauline Hillier at Oraison

Organized since 2016 by the DLVAgglo media library network since 2016, the Une Terre, unailleurs readers’ prize has become, year after year, an unmissable event for all book lovers in the region.

This 7th edition has mobilized, since last July, a jury of 15 readers accompanied by the winner of the previous edition, Laurine Roux to choose, from ten proposals from librarians, the four finalists: Tomorrows that sing by Alexia Stresi, The Great Bear by Maylis Adhémar, Fragmented souls by Charlotte Monsarrat, and The contemplated by Pauline Hillier.

It was the name of the latter which was finally pronounced yesterday afternoon, at the Salle de l’Éden in Oraison – the prize giving ceremony was initially to be held in the courtyard of the Château, but the card of caution was played due to possible rain – by Sandra Faure, DLVAgglo vice-president in charge of culture.

The personal account of an imprisoned woman

An announcement greeted with applause from the sixty people present who seemed satisfied with this choice. A choice which therefore fell on this autobiographical novel which delivers the incredible portrait of a group of women united in the face of injustice. This story is in fact directly taken from the experience of Pauline Hillier who stayed for almost a month in a Tunisian prison, 11 years ago.
