Francoise Hardy died this Tuesday evening, at the age of 80. For 20 years, the singer had been fighting cancer. Jacques Dutronc was the great love of his life. However, the two singers had not been together for more than 30 years.
They met in 1967. Their love was born Thomas Dutroncin 1973. It was only a few years later that they finally marriedbefore to separateless than ten years after their union.
Although they were married in 1981, Françoise Hardy and Jacques Dutronc, in reality, never divorce. Thomas Dutronc’s parents also stayed good friends. But why did they choose not to divorce?
In an interview given to Paris Match in 2016, Françoise Hardy explained this choice by “tax and notarial reasons”. “It doesn’t mean anything to me”, she had said. However, since 1997, Jacques Dutronc has shared his life with Sylvie Duval, a makeup artist he met on the set of Place Vendôme.
Despite everything, Jacques Dutronc never wanted to put a legal term to their marriage neither. A few years ago, he still considered her to be the woman of his life. “When, in 2015, everyone thought I was dying, I was told that it had upset him to the point of telling the person who lived with him that I was the woman of his life”told Françoise Hardy to Paris Matchthree years ago. “It deeply moved me […] It was mutual.
